A word from pastor jared
Renewal Family,
When Heather and I started Renewal 12 years ago, we dreamed of seeing people’s lives changed as they encountered Jesus. Today, that dream has faces, names, and stories. God has been on the move at Renewal, even as we’ve made things work in a school, hotel, and theater.
Now we believe God is inviting us to put down deeper roots in Boston.
In Isaiah 61, God describes His people as “oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.” Then He describes what they will do: rebuild, restore, and renew places that have been devastated for generations. It’s a beautiful picture of what we want for our church. We want to be deeply rooted in Christ, growing into the people He has called us to be, and bringing renewal to the city we love.
That’s the heart behind Rooted. We believe God is leading us from being a church planted to a church rooted, establishing a lasting home for ministry in Boston. We want to create a place where our neighbors can encounter Jesus, where our children can grow in faith, and where generations after us can discover the goodness of God. Our vision remains the same: that every man, woman, and child in the seven downtown neighborhoods would have an opportunity to say “yes” to Jesus.
Through the Rooted Initiative, we'll explore what it means to be rooted in Christ, committed to one another, and invested in our city. We’ll also ask what it looks like to give generously toward the work God has put before us. Establishing a permanent home will take a shared commitment, but we believe the result will be a stronger faith, a lasting home for ministry in Boston, momentum for the Southie location launch, and greater opportunities to reach people with the hope of Jesus for generations to come.
My prayer is that we’ll look back on this season as a time when we grew deeper in faith and took a meaningful step forward together. It’s a joy to be your pastor. I’m grateful to be part of this church with you, and I’m excited for what God has ahead.
Blessings,
Pastor Jared Kirk

OUR VISION
God has presented a once-in-a-generation opportunity to acquire a beautiful 20,000-square-foot church building in Beacon Hill! It will serve as a permanent home for our downtown congregation, and the future equity will enable expansion or church planting in every downtown neighborhood in the years to come. It will be a base of operations for family ministry, community building, caring for the poor, and reaching those far from God. We desire every man, woman, and child in the seven downtown neighborhoods to have an opportunity to say “yes” to Jesus and this represents a leap forward in our effectiveness.
Ultimately, we don’t just want a church building, we want to change the spiritual landscape of Boston.
AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY
This unique historical property on 35 Bowdoin Street in one of Boston’s most coveted and historic neighborhoods will allow Renewal Church to form deep roots in Boston and beyond.
It includes:
• A 36-child daycare, creating new opportunities to serve families in Boston
• A permanent auditorium, giving our church family room to worship, gather, grow, and welcome more people
• Future housing for church leadership to help facilitate future leadership transitions
is god calling you to give?
Frequently asked questions:
-
We’re asking everyone to pray boldly and turn in a commitment card as part of the Rooted initiative. Our goal is 100% participation—not equal gifts, but equal willingness to trust God together for something bigger than ourselves. Every commitment matters as we take this step of faith as one church family. The commitment is to give “over and above” our regular tithes and offerings for a three-year period.
-
Rooted is an invitation for all of us to give above and beyond our regular giving to Renewal Church for the duration of the initiative. For those of us who already give regularly, this means continuing our regular giving while prayerfully considering an additional commitment toward Rooted. That amount will look different for every person or family. The goal is not equal gifts, but thoughtful, prayerful participation as each of us considers what God is asking us to do.
-
If you have never given financially to Renewal before, this is a great time to begin. Your first step may be to begin giving regularly to the ongoing ministry of Renewal while also considering whether God is inviting you to participate in Rooted. Wherever you are starting from, we hope everyone who calls Renewal home will prayerfully consider what a meaningful next step looks like. We invite you to turn in a commitment card, jump in now, and be a part of this exciting moment in the history of Renewal Church!
-
Rooted will primarily fund the renovation of 35 Bowdoin Street, but we have also set aside some funds from the campaign to give the Southie location launch a boost in 2027. If our regular giving stays the same, we can fully fund ministry operations, the building loan, add a full-time staff position, and fund all missions partners without changing anything because Renewal is a generous church!
-
God wants our hearts more than our money. The widow of Mark 12 gave far less than others, but Jesus praised her for her sacrificial offering. She was rich toward God, and that is an opportunity extended to all of us.
-
It’s important for generosity to be part of our lives at every stage. If you are in the process of paying off debt, we commend you, and you should continue to do so. However, the Bible does not teach that we withhold generosity until we are debt-free. If you’re working through significant debt, continue making wise and responsible financial decisions while asking God how generosity can remain part of your discipleship during this season.
-
There are several ways you can contribute financially to Renewal Church: online at renewalchurchboston.com/give, in the Church Center app, and at Sunday services through the collection boxes in the back. However you give, please designate your online gift by selecting “Rooted” or writing “Rooted” on the memo line of your check.

At Renewal Church, we believe that when it comes to being generous with our finances, God doesn’t want something from us—He wants something for us. We serve a generous God who gave everything in His Son, Jesus. Jesus Himself talked often about money. Our desire for money and how we use it are deeply connected to what it means to trust Him and follow as His disciples. Rooted is about each of us growing as disciples of Jesus in every area of our lives, including our financial giving.

We are asking for financial commitments to Rooted that stretch from December of 2026 to December of 2029. You may update your commitment or pledge at any time.
